To many, the release of Christmas station IDs of both GMA and ABS-CBN signals the official start of the Holiday season.
It’s that time of the year [again] when Christmas tunes lord over the radio airwaves, or people hear the jingles as piped-in music at malls and other establishments, and even at home.
The Christmas spirit becomes even more alive with the start of the caroling season, but it gets louder and warmer when the two largest media networks in the country release their Christmas station IDs.
This year, ABS-CBN and GMA networks echo almost the same sentiments.
ABS-CBN’s Andito Tayo Para Sa Isa’t-isa highlights lending hands this Christmas and the spirit of ‘Bayanihan’ during tough times, while GMA Network’s Love Together, Hope Together puts love and hope with extra emphasis–the Christmas season encourages.
GMA Network released the lyric and recording video of their official Christmas station ID, three weeks ago. It has so far garnered 921,000 views on YouTube. ABS-CBN, on the other hand, is proving its dominant force when it comes to station IDs, as Andito Tayo Para Sa Isa’t-isa’s lyric video already raked 2.7 million views on the same platform, in five days since its release.
On facebook, ABS-CBN also maintains its lead over GMA Network, with its lyric video collecting more than 7 million views since its release on November 8, Monday. The Kapuso Christmas Station ID lyric video, on the other hand, has accumulated 1.6 million views on the network’s official Facebook page, since its release on October 17. On YouTube, ABS-CBN’s lyric video peaked at No. 2 among trending videos in the country.
Like in the past years, the release of the official music videos of the two networks’ respective Christmas IDs is a much-awaited event. Both networks released the music videos after their respective primetime newscasts.
Fans are glued to the music video to wait for their fans’ appearance on the year’s station ID. For keen observers, it is important to note in which part of the music video certain stars appear, as that signifies their stature among ABS-CBN stars. Those with longer exposure and those who appear in the opening and closing frames are also being taken notice of.
Former Kapamilya stars Bea Alonzo, Albert Martinez, Kim Atienza, Richard Yap, and Pokwang, among others were given special moments in their first appearance on a Kapuso Chrismas station ID, while homegrown Kapuso royalties, with Marian Rivera, Dingdong Dantes, Alden Richards were given shining moments in their respective frames, although some are notably missing, including Dennis Trillo and Jennylyn Mercado. Newly-signed John Lloyd Cruz is also not in the current music video
Like Ikaw Ang Liwanag At Ligaya, Andito Tayo Para Sa Isa’t isa is unable to gather all Kapamilya stars in one place, but its magic remains the same. It’s also worth noting that this year’s Christmas ID brings back the testimonials of Kapamilyas from various walks of life and location. Stars of ABS-CBN’s biggest shows, including the six-year-old FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.
On twitter, both #LoveTogetherHopeTogether and #AnditoTayoParaSaIsatIsa made it to the top trending topics with both hashtags garnering at least 20,000 tweets. ABS-CBN’S hashtag peaked at no. 5 among top trends at 8:45 PM.
