To say that Filipinos are talented in the music industry is an understatement. Singing has become a big part of the nation’s culture.
That is why it is no longer surprising for Filipinos to hear stories about local artists making a name on the international stage.
As Warner Music Philippines officially launched “GLOPM” or Global Pinoy Music, it is now more possible for local artists to make great strides in the music industry abroad.
Warner Music Philippines managing director Sarah Ismail explained GLOPM’s aim to showcase Filipino talent around the world.
Ismail said, “GLOPM is a collaborative movement to promote Filipino talent around the world. Now, we have Filipino artists who have been able to work and connect with international producers and this is why we should support GLOPM! The Filipino artist is truly world-class!
“We are very proud to launch GLOPM as a movement that amplifies and elevates Filipino talent to the global community. I believe in the immense talent of Filipino artists and GLOPM is the perfect platform for us to do just that. They deserve global recognition.”
Warner Music Philippines A&R manager Kelley Mangahas has put her trust that it is about time to make a push for Filipino artists to find their ‘own’ voice.
“The initiative will enhance the release of music, to learn from each other. We wanted to break through the international scene. We realized, we needed to learn best practices, it’s knowledge transfer from people who have done it internationally,” Mangahas added.
Through this campaign, more Filipino artists will be allowed to collaborate and learn from international musicians across the globe.
GLOPM currently launched its first set of collaborations with indie-pop duo Leanne & Naara who collaborated with Filipino Canadian Producer August Rigo for the single titled Anticipation, Reon’s Back To The Times with record producer Xerxes Bakker, Good Old Days by Quest with production duo Kuya Productions, and Love Language written by Catriona Gray and recorded by Australian producer Cabu.
The best way to support this campaign is to support the artists and the music they come out with. Through this, the world will know how Filipino music is worthy of praise.
