Rare TV Moment: Kim Atienza, Raffy Tulfo bid farewell to their news programs on the same night

On October 1, Both ABS-CBN Weather Anchor Kim Atienza and TV5 News Anchor Raffy Tulfo bid farewell to their respective news programs.

Anjo Bagaoisan of ABS-CBN News coined it as a rare TV moment seeing two news personalities bid their farewells on Philippine Primetime Newscasts on the same night.

It’s rare to hear farewells on Philippine primetime newscasts.

Even rarer for 2 shows to close with signoffs on the same night.

First off, Tulfo said his goodbye to Frontline Pilipinas, TV5’s primetime news program.

“May halong lungkot po at saya ang aking nararamdaman ngayon sa aking gagawing pagpapaalam po sa inyo dito sa Frontline Pilipinas.”

Atienza followed soon after, saying his final ‘weather-weather lang’ tagline after 17 years in ABS-CBN.

“Higit sa lahat, salamat sa inyo, mga Kapamilya, sa inyong pagsubaybay at pagsuporta. Si Kuya Kim ay hindi magiging Kuya Kim kung hindi dahil sa inyo.”

Atienza recently confirmed his transfer to GMA Network, wherein he would work on five upcoming TV shows. As for Tulfo, he recently filed his certificate of candidacy for Senator a day after his farewell from Frontline Pilipinas.

Aside from these two news personalities, speculations surfaced that TV Patrol anchor Noli De Castro also aims to run in the senate. However, there is still no confirmation from ABS-CBN or De Castro’s camp.
