Talent manager and vlogger Ogie Diaz shared on Tuesday, October 19, how he was offered to sell his Facebook page to an undisclosed politician.
Diaz said on Twitter how someone asked him if he was selling his fan page with 2 million followers. He was even offered a whopping P1 million.
However, he turned it down as he jokingly said that he was “waiting” for the presidential aspirant, incumbent Vice President Leni Robredo, to take over his page.
Me nagtanong na din sa akin kung ibinebenta ko daw ba yung fanpage kong The Ogie Diaz na may 2M followers, Pwede daw 1M. Sabi ko, sayang, nahuli sila. Benta ko lang, piso. Kay @lenirobredo. Di pa nga ako binabayaran. 😂👩🎤💗 https://t.co/Vb3k74hFrj

Meanwhile, Facebook pages have been changing their names in “support” to their chosen politician.
A Netizen even shared how fan pages were being turned into “supporters” of another presidential aspirant, Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
He even accused BBM of being a shopaholic for allegedly buying Facebook pages to turn its followers into his own supporters.
Shopaholic din talaga tong si BBM anak ng diktador no? Hilig bumili ng Facebook pages. pic.twitter.com/ttcmtCEBDj

Facebook has been instrumental in the election period due to its billion users. This means that politicians could use it in their political campaigns.
However, there is this habit of buying big pages and using them to spread their propaganda and reach.
The freedom of the public to choose their next government official is being tainted by politicians who try to earn the post through any means.
If politicians are trying to buy Facebook pages to influence the election result somehow, should they deserve to be public servants?
