Singer-songwriter Lian Kyla considers her “Dream Maker” EP, her first venture into low fidelity (lo-fi) music, a huge personal milestone and an emotional shift that allowed her to fully embrace her journey as a musical artist.
Composed, arranged, and produced by Lian herself, the lo-fi EP features six tracks that take inspiration from both natural and virtual worlds and feature soothing ambient instrumentals and filmic soundscapes. She wrote the songs as a respite and safe space for herself and her listeners to come home to.
“It’s about embracing the journey, celebrating where you are right now, and remembering that it’s ok to take a pause. That’s what ‘Dream Maker’ as an album means to me,” shared Lian Kyla in a MYXclusive interview.
The EP, released under Star Music, includes the title track “Dream Maker” as well as “Flower Tea 2 (Remixed),” “By The Window,” “Moon Tides,” “In Amenor,” and “After Rain.”
Working on the mini-album for five months has also allowed the rising artist to forego her reluctance and really bring out her love for music.
“I’ve been challenging myself the past couple of months to write more songs, to learn more about music production, to write for other people also. That has really made me embrace music more,” she said.
Aside from “Dream Maker EP,” the ABS-CBN Music artist also recently dropped her new pop-rock single “Saya” about having ‘a happy crush’ on someone. Its music video came out last Monday (October 11).
Lian continues to carve her unique sound in the industry. She lent her voice for the soundtrack of “Walang Hanggang Paalam” with Erik Santos and sang “’Yun Ka’ for “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.” She also wrote songs for P-pop groups BGYO and BINI.
The Kapamilya singer earned nominations in the 33rd Awit Awards under Best Christmas Recording for her “Lian Kyla Christmas” EP and Best Performance by a New Female Recording Artist.
