With more than 18,000 elective seats available in the 2022 national and local polls, political candidates had filed their certificates of candidacy (COCs) from Friday, October 1 until Friday, October 8.

3. Richard Yap (actor)
Yap is running for representative of the 1st District of Cebu City. The actor filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) on Sunday, October 3. He previously ran in the 2019 midterm elections against then-incumbent congressman Raul del Mar, but he lost.

4. Javi Benitez (actor)
Benitez is running for mayor in Victorias City, Negros Occidental. He is one of ABS-CBN’s Star Magic artists. He was part of the primetime series The General’s Daughter and Walang Hanggang Paalam.

Hilario is running for councilor in Makati City. The actor filed his certificate of candidacy on Friday, October 1. Hilario won his second term as a city councilor in the 2019 elections. He is known for his hosting stint on It’s Showtime.

Veloso is running for councilor in Makati City. He had also served as a councilor before he filed candidacy as vice mayor. He ran for vice mayor in Manila in 2013, but he lost to Isko Moreno.

7. Anjo Yllana (comedian and actor)
Yllana is running for congressman of the 4th District of Camarines Sur. Prior to this, he served as a councilor in Paranaque City from 1998 until 2004, and he also served as the vice mayor of the same city from 2004 to 2007.
8. Angelu de Leon (actress)
De Leon is running for councilor in Pasig City. It was on October 6, Wednesday, when she filed her certificate of candidacy (COC). She said Mayor Vico Sotto was the main reason she decided to enter politics. She is known for starring in the ’90s youth-oriented show TGIS.

Gomez is running for representative of the 4th district of Leyte. He files his certificate of candidacy on Wednesday, October 6. He assumed office as mayor of Ormoc City on June 30, 2016. He was a leading actor in movies in the early 1990s and won several awards and nominations.
14. Nash Aguas (actor)
Aguas is running for councilor in Quezon City. In September 2021, Aguas was sworn in as a new member of the Lakas–CMD party. The actor is known for being part of the defunct Goin’ Bulilit show.
15. Dennis Padilla, (actor)
Padilla is running for councilor in Caloocan City. He was elected councilor of Caloocan from 1998 to 2007. In 2017, Padilla was appointed as one of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB).

17. Karla Estrada (actress and host)
Estrada is running under Tingog Sinirangan party-list group. On Friday, October 8, she filed her certificate of candidacy from the party-list group Tingog Sinirangan, whose current representative, Yedda Romualdez. Estrada is known for hosting the morning show Magandang Buhay on ABS-CBN, and she currently runs a YouTube channel called Dear Momshie Karls.

1. Isko Moreno (former matinee idol and current Manila mayor)
Moreno is running for President under Aksyon Demokratiko, founded by the late Senator Raul Roco. He filed his certificate of candidacy at the Sofitel on Monday, October 4, with running mate Doctor Willie Ong. Moreno is currently serving as the 22nd mayor of Manila since 2019. He became part of That’s Entertainment, a defunct teen variety show.

2. Tito Sotto (actor, musician, senator)
Sotto is running for vice president. It was on Wednesday, October 6, when Sotto filed his certificate of candidacy. He is currently serving as the Senate President of the Philippines since 2018. Sotto is a co-host of Eat Bulaga!, the longest-running variety show in Philippine television history.

3. Jinggoy Estrada (former actor )
Estrada is running for senator. Before serving two terms as a Senator of the Philippines from 2004 to 2016, he served as Vice Mayor of San Juan in 1988. He notably won the Best Actor Award in the 2007 Metro Manila Film Festival for Katas ng Saudi.
4. Raffy Tulfo (broadcaster)

Del Rosario is running for senator. He is popularly known as a Filipino taekwondo champion and actor in several Filipino and international action films.
