Reel-and-real couple Kim Molina and Jerald Napoles shared on Friday, October 8, their thoughts on being dubbed as one of Viva’s “favorites.”
In the virtual media conference for their upcoming movie Sa Haba ng Gabi, Molina denied the idea of them, being one of Viva’s favorites since during this pandemic. all of the media outfit’s talents were given equal opportunities to earn their keeps.
“Sa pagiging favorites, I won’t really say that we’re favorites. We’re both just very grateful na lahat naman kami sa Viva ay binibigyan ng work; and we have work in the middle of the pandemic. Kahit paano, lahat kami ay may pagkakataon para magkaroon ng trabaho.
“So ‘yon na lang ang tinitignan namin at pinagbubutihan na lang din namin. So yun lang ang masasabi ko,” she explained.
Before doing their latest film, the couple had done several movies this year such as Jowables, Ang Babaeng Walang Pakiramdam, and Ikaw, At Ako, At ang Ending.
Meanwhile, her boyfriend Je believed that it is because of their “genre” that made Viva consider them as the perfect pair to star in comedy films.
“I think it’s the genre na produkto namin na pelikula. Kami yung comedy na loveteam din. So automatic ‘pag comedy, kailangan mo nang loveteam na comedy eh kami ang nasasalang kaagad.”
The couple also shared if there were disadvantages to working together on a project.
According to Napoles, problems were minimal. However, Molina said that the number one drawback was whenever they fight.
“Disadvantage ‘pag nag-aaway kami, gan’yan,” she pointed.
However, Kim explained that both she and Jerald were professional enough to separate their personal problem whenever they work together.
“Pero nagagawa naman ng paraan kasi pro naman kaming dalawa ni Je. Sa lahat ng nagawa namin, we’re actually very proud of it since we started as co-actors also from Rock of Aegis.
“So we would always share that we are proud of that side of us. So alam na namin kung paano kami mag-adjust with each other,” she noted.
In Sa Haba ng Gabi, they worked with filmmaker Miko Livelo. According to the couple, the director gave them the freedom to do improvisations and share inputs for the movie.
“Lalo na si Direk Miko, meron s’ya na, ‘O sige, mag-input kayo,’ may gano’n na kaagad. So siguro maraming eksena dito na nagi-improv kami,” revealed Jerald.
“Si Direk Miko yung, ‘kayo na d’yan!’ Okay. Hahaha!” added Kim.
Their co-star, Candy Pangilinan, even described Direk Miko as “baliw.”
“Kung may chance lang kami no’n or may sobra kaming time, gusto na namin s’yang ipa-check up.”
The filmmaker likewise agreed and said, “Hindi naman ho ako tatanggi so tama naman ‘yun.”
