On October 15, Kapamilya actress Kim Chiu admitted to getting hurt by bashers belittling her intelligence.
During her interview with ABS-CBN reporter Miguel Dumaual, Chiu revealed that disparaging remarks about her intelligence still pains her.
“For me, learn from your mistakes. And then take care of your mental health also, protect yourself from those people who can actually hurt you. Tao din naman kami. ‘Pag may nagsasabi sa ‘yong, ‘Ang tanga-tanga mo,’ ang sakit-sakit naman.”
However, Chiu said she tries to understand the reason behind the hurtful comments.
“Pero iniisip ko na lang, hindi naman niya ako kilala. Bakit niya ako sasabihan ng ‘tanga’? Hindi naman tayo magkakilala, so bakit ka magkakaroon ng freedom to tell me those things? Nasi-segregate ko na ‘yung people who can actually hurt me and people who can just pass by.”
She also recalled the challenges she faced in 2020, especially the reactions she received after her “bawal lumabas” statement.
“Last year was the super challenging year talaga for me.
“Parang everything you do, naka-microscope na sila, ‘yung pinakamali doon sa sinabi mo.”
Chiu trended on social media in the wake of the pandemic in 2020 after her ‘Bawal Lumabas’ analogy. Her bashers belittled Chiu’s intelligence over the remark. However, the Kapamilya actress went on and recorded a song and starred in a digital series based on her viral statement.
From then on, she became an ‘It’s Showtime’ host. However, there have been multiple instances wherein bashers called her out over her comments on the noontime show. Some even wanted her off the hosting gig. Despite all these, Chiu continues to march on and fulfill her dream.
“I’m just very thankful that destiny brought me here, and until now, after 15 years, I’m still here. ‘Yung dream ko lang talaga is makita ako on national TV. Hanggang ngayon, I’m still living my dream.”
