Established sexy actor Jay Manalo shared his opinion on Thursday, October 14, about the growing numbers of celebrities who entered politics.
In his understanding, Manalo believed that celebrities, being professionals, would also like to try new things.
“Well baka… siguro minsan kasi yung tinatawag na calling, gusto nilang subukan ang bagong field, especially yung pagbibigay ng serbisyo sa publiko,” he said during the virtual media conference of his upcoming movie Mahjong Nights.
He also cannot deny that, as humans, celebrities may want to contribute to change after experiencing the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.
But the actor pointed that since he started in the showbiz industry, he would like to retire as an actor and nothing else.
So parang gusto ko, kung may career man akong tatapusin, gusto ko matapos ako as artista pa rin,” he stressed.
Still, the actor is not ignorant of ‘destiny’, and if some actors and actresses decide to become politicians, he will leave it all to God.
The actor then reiterated that he would remain an actor for the rest of his career, adding that he had decided to help the new breed of actors and actresses begin with their showbiz careers.
Some of the celebrities who has now filed their respective certificate of candidacy (COC) were Claudine Barretto, Arci Muñoz, Ejay Falcon, Nash Aguas, Jason Abalos, Javi Benitez, Doland Castro, and Karla Estrada.
