Seasoned showbiz columnist Cristy Fermin talked about Senator Manny Pacquiao’s alleged selling of properties in his hometown.
On October 25, during her online show Cristy Ferminute, Fermin shared that an unnamed source told her that Pacquiao is selling his house and lots in General Santos City.
“Balitang-balita sa south ito, sa GenSan, na nagbebenta raw ng mga properties si Sen. Manny Pacquiao. Nagbebenta raw ng bahay, ng mga lote na nabili nila. Ganun.”
Fermin then speculated that money raised from these properties is to go for his campaign as Pacquiao is running for Presidency this 2022.
“Ang interpretasyon ko naman dun, hindi sa anupaman, baka dun nya kukunin yung gagamitin niya sa kampanya. Di ba?”
“Baka yung naiipon naman nila ay itinabi na talaga, naka time-deposit na para sa kanyang pamilya at kinabukasan nila. Yun naman ang interpretasyon ko.”
However, she added that her source has a different assumption regarding Pacquiao’s alleged selling of properties.
Accordingly, Pacquiao is doing it because he is currently experiencing financial problems.
“Pero parang hindi naman ganun yung interpretasyon ng nagkwento. Parang kinakapos daw.”
Fermin then tracked back a statement from Chavit Singson.
“Naaalala ko tuloy si Gov. Chavit Singson.” ‘Mauubos’ ang pera niya, matatalo pa siya. Di ba? Yun yung sinabi.”
In 2015, Forbes listed Pacquiao as the second richest athlete in the world. Aside from being a world-boxing champ, Pacquiao is also a real estate investor, entrepreneur, and politician.
Based on a report of PEP, Pacquiao owns 100 properties worth 1.569 billion in Philippine peso or $30.92 million, accounting for 46% of his net worth. Vehicles account for about 4% of his assets, while 7% got invested in local businesses.
Last year, Pacquiao put his Makati City mansion on the market, which he bought for 388 million Philippine pesos ($7.25 million). When it was first listed, the house was estimated to be worth 1.5 billion in Philippine peso ($29.56 million).
