ON SUNDAY, Kapamilya TV and film director Theodore Boborol was worried for ABS-CBN about the possible joining of forces between Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio in the upcoming national elections.
On his Twitter, Boborol was terrorized by the pair and urged the public not to allow politicians who were trapo, liars, corrupt, unintelligent, and thieves to be in the highest government position.
Nakakatatakot ang 2022! Huwag naman nating hayaang manalo ang mga trapo, sinungaling, kurakot, hindi matalino, at magnanakaw!
Wala akong pinapangalanan ha! Huwag defensive!

Although he did not mention any names, earlier on October 23, Bongbong and Sara met in Cebu, which led to many ascertaining that the two were planning to run together: Bongbong as President and Sara as his running-mate.
Due to the speculations that a possible Marcos-Duterte tandem would make its way in the national elections, Borobol said he was certain that ABS-CBN’s hope to return on free TV would be squashed once the two win.

Retired Supreme Court Justice Antonio Carpio on September 24 predicted that a Marcos-Duterte tandem was very possible.
“There is still a possibility, and I think it is probable that it will be a team-up with Sara Duterte and Bongbong in the end because that would appear to be the strongest team and logically that will be the direction
“But of course we cannot say for certain because everything is fluid at this time. We don’t know exactly if he (Marcos) will run for president or slide down to vice, but we know he is running for a national office,” he said in an online forum with 1Sambayan.
Regarding Boborol’s fear of ABS-CBN’s non-renewal in 2022, it can be recalled that back in February 2020, Duterte-Carpio was in favor of the Network’s franchise renewal.
“Davao City fully supports ABS-CBN sa kanilang pagpapa-renew ng kanilang franchise. Of course malaki din ang suporta ng ABS-CBN sa Davao City at sa buong bansa. Hopefully ma-resolve in a very positive way ang issue ng franchise ng ABS-CBN,” she responded during a chance interview in Sulu.
Meanwhile, Marcos has not expressed his opinion regarding the franchise renewal of ABS-CBN.
In July 2020, despite the allegations that the Duterte Administration threw at the Network were cleared by government branches, the House Committee on Legislative Franchises rendered a decision 70-11 rejecting its franchise renewal bid.
