Film and TV director Andoy Ranay revealed on Tuesday, October 12, the strengths of his stars Julia Barretto, Marco Gallo, and Marco Gumabao as artists.
Ranay showered Barretto, who just returned from doing TV series, with appreciation.
“Julia has been very very generous as an actor. Sabi nga n’ya kanina, medyo matagal s’ya bago bumalik sa harap ng camera.
“But once she was there and I see her on the monitor, and she glows like the superstar that she is. She really put her foot into the character and her whole heart. So generous in giving back to her co-actors,” he lauded during the Di Na Muli virtual press conference.
He then added that the actress was “on point” in her craft that made it easier for them, work-wise.
“Kaya hindi naging mahirap para sa aming lahat ang trabaho because she is the star, she’s the lead, and she took on that responsibility.”
For Gallo, although it was Ranay’s first time working with the young artist, saw that he has “great listening skills.”
“When he listens to instructions, he truly listens and takes it to his heart, and he’s just so committed to the work itself and the character.”
Another thing that the director saw in Gallo is that he is “gentleman enough” to make his lead actress feel comfortable on the set.
“Hindi naging mahirap for him especially building the chemistry with Julia. Kasi he really goes out of his way as well to reach out din to Julia. Hindi naman si Julia lang ang lalapit sa kanya. He’s gentleman enough to reach out to Julia and hindi s’ya makasarili.”
Ranay also worked for the first time with Gumabao. His conclusion about the actor was that he was oozing with confidence and was born to be an artist.
“His strength naman is his confidence. Parang he’s born to be in this industry. He’s born to act, he’s born to perform.”
In terms of the chemistry between Barretto and Gumabao, the director shared that it was easy taping the series.
“With the chemistry naman with Julia, sabi nga ni Julia ‘matagal na silang magkakilala and they’re good friends.’
“So sobrang ayan na, nand’yan na sa harap namin. So babalik na lang sila sa character nila.”
He also praised Gumabao as a very committed actor.
“He’s very committed as well sa character n’ya at tsaka doon sa kwento mismo.”
