Instead of getting hurt, Kapuso young star Claire de Castro on Wednesday, October 27, was honored to get slapped by an established actress like Gina Alajar.
“Isa pong honor na masampal ng isang magaling na direktor and actor na si Miss Gina Alajar po,” she said during her media conference.
Claire referred to Nagbabagang Luha‘s episode on October 9 where Gina, who plays Calida, slapped and had Cielo’s (Claire) face pushed into a cake. The scene went viral, and the video, which was uploaded on GMA Network’s YouTube channel, has already reached more than 2 million views.
The young star denied she was shocked by the slap and stressed that she was “sleepy” at that time and needed it to wake up.
“No po eh. Kasi natuwa pa nga ako kasi antok po ako no’n as in. ‘Pag antok po ako, medyo hirap na po mag-focus. So ang saya-saya ko after, like may adrenaline.”
The 23-year old Kapuso artist actually enjoyed the scene and said she would rather get slapped than be the slapper.
“For me po mas masaya kapag ikaw ang sinasampal kasi nagigising ka eh,” expressed Claire.
According to her, the scene was only done in one take and recalled how Gina apologized to her before she had her face plunged into the cake.
“Actually po it was one take yung cake scene and yung sampal. Kasi nauna pong i-film ang cake scene bago po yung scene before that, yung sampal.
“Bago n’ya po maisubsob (ang mukha ko) sa cake, sabi n’ya, ‘I’m sorry Claire this is just a job. We have to do it, I’m sorry,'” she recalled.
When asked about how she felt after the scene, Claire said she has a high tolerance for pain, and the intense scene was nothing to her.
“Ako po kasi mataas naman talaga ang pain tolerance ko. Kaya I don’t mind. Ang akin lang po nagigising talaga ako kapag may action ang scene.”
She then reiterated that it was an honor to have Gina do the scene with her, even pointed that the actress-director was actually nice in person.
“Medyo okay naman po, natutuwa ako s’yempre kasi si Direk Gina po yun and Direk Gina is super malambing po in person. Super kind po and she actually invited me nga po mag-Bible study. Nag-Bible study kami ni Direk Gina.”
But after her cake scene, Claire revealed she did not realize how much cake was on her face and that she had to take pieces of cake in her ear for days.
“Actually po I couldn’t open my eyes. I didn’t realize na super dami pong cake. Tapos I recall three days after, like every day I would clean my ears, meron pa pong cake like it doesn’t end.”
Apart from Gina, Claire wishes that she could get slapped by another great kontrabida actress in Cherie Gil.
“Siguro po baka si Miss Cherie Gil. Isa po s’yang magaling na kontrabida and it would be an honor din po na masampal ni Miss Cherie Gil,” she hoped.
Nagbabagang Luha which Claire top-billed alongside Glaiza de Castro had its finale on Friday, October 23.
