Stars of Vivamax newest movie Barumbadings shared on October 13 how they would deal if their child is a member of the LGBTQIA+ community.
During the film’s media conference, Joel Torre, Jeric Raval, Mark Anthony Fernandez, and Baron Geisler took turns sharing their thoughts if such a situation would enter their lives.
For Torre, he will be supportive if his offspring is a member and would not in any way discriminate against him.
“I’ll be supportive. There’s no discrimination involved in this. I’ll be very supportive. It’s not about your gender orientation, but it’s about the person who you are,” he explained.
He also added that being accepting should be important as well as teaching them how to be good people.
“It’s about acceptance and encouraging them to be good people.”
Jeric also agreed with Torre, noting that he sees nothing wrong when a child of his is gay.
“Wala naman akong nakikitang mali at masama sa pagiging bakla. Sabi nga ng relihiyon na kina-aniban ko, eh wala namang masama sa pagiging bakla. Eh pareho lang naman tayong nilalang ng Diyos so wala akong nakikitang masama do’n.”
On the other hand, as a catholic, Fernandez would try and “expound” his belief to his child. Although he would attempt to instill his religious beliefs, the actor said he would still be supportive of his child’s decision.
“Saradong katoliko talaga ako eh at may mga kaibigan din akong Iglesia. I would expound my beliefs. And then kung yun talaga ang spirit n’ya, I would support also.”
Baron also felt that it is his responsibility for his child if he becomes a member of the LGBT community, stressing that he must know what is best for his kid.
“It’s simple. It’s about being accountable—well I relate it to myself na lang as a father to a daughter—I need to be accountable to the people around. And if you are accountable, then maybe you would think what is the best thing sa tamang panahon na ‘yon. Yun ang huhulma sa tao.”
Barumbadings is under the direction of filmmaker Darryl Yap and is about gay assassins. It will be available for streaming starting November 5, on Vivamax.
