Beauty queen-turned-actress Ariella Arida believed on Wednesday, October 20, those beauty pageants create opportunities for titleholders to make a name for themselves in the entertainment industry.
“Siguro nagkakataon pa rin. Siguro kasi once na nanalo ka sa pageant, na-expose ka sa industry as well,” she pointed during More Than Blue‘s virtual media conference.
She then related it to herself, who, in 2013, won the Miss Universe Philippines. Arida said she did not expect to see herself as an actress, but it was an opportunity knocking on her door, and she gladly welcomed it.
“So totoo naman po talaga yung opportunities talaga dumadating kahit na hindi mo inaasahan. So yung acting, hindi ko po inaasahan; well actually kahit pagsali ko sa pageant.
“Ako kasi basta whenever may opportunity na dumating, hindi na ako para tumanggi pa d’yan.”
However, entering a new career posed a challenge to Arida, who admitted she was awkward at first. But fortunately for her, she learned how to unleash her potential as an actress and did her best to prove that she could act.
“So may gano’ng awkwardness, hindi ako confident. But one of the lessons na natutunan ko dito is it takes experience and a lot of practice and hardwork to be able to do kung ano yung… kasi yung acting parang dumating (biglaan).
“Pero super thankful po ako d’yan so that’s why since nandito na s’ya, ayoko siyang i-treat na basta-basta lang. So I’m really doing my best na para mapakita rin sa tao na I can do this and deserve ko to be here.”
In the meantime, while the upcoming Kapamilya series Darna has yet to unveil who will portray its villain, Valentina, many perceived that Arida could perfectly fit into the role.
Arida then reacted, saying that she was open to doing the role.
“With Valentina, why not? Sana nga po, pagdasal po natin ‘yan. Thank you, salamat dahil naisip n’yo po iyan,” she expressed.
Arida is part of the upcoming Viva film More Than Blue that stars JC Santos and Yassi Pressman. Diego Loyzaga joins her as part of the supporting cast.
Prior to doing the movie, Arida starred in Sarap Mong Patayin along with Lassy Marquez and Kit Thompson.
More Than Blue will be available for streaming starting November 19, on Vivamax.
