On It’s Showtime‘s episode on Wednesday, September 8, Vice Ganda chided on the government’s confusing announcement of community quarantine status in Metro Manila.
The Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) announced on Sunday, September 4 that the National Capital Region (NCR) will shift to general community quarantine (GCQ) with granular lockdowns.
Three days later, the government announced that they are finalizing guidelines for its implementation on Wednesday. However, on Tuesday, September 7, the government changed its decision saying that NCR will stay under the strict modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ).
In light of this, Vice Ganda commented that the government is probably making a fool out of its citizens.
The comedian said he sympathizes with those people, especially small business owners, who were affected by the government’s shifting announcement of NCR’s community quarantine status.
His fellow It’s Showtime host, Ryan Bang also related how it affected his restaurant business. Bang shared that their prepared food groceries will go to waste since restaurants will remain prohibited from operating under MECQ.
“Alam n’yo napaglaruan n’yo yung mga tao tapos hindi kayo humihingi ng sorry, tinatalakan n’yo pa sila,” Vice Ganda stated.
That’s what influence is for! Only the selfish and cowards fear to engage in politics especially during these dire times. Let’s take our power back! THANK YOU Meme for bringing these insights to the tv of our masses that don’t get to hear the real problem of our society today! https://t.co/ebo6ZFUmXF

Some members of the restaurant industry and a local official also decried the government’s shifting announcement of NCR’s community quarantine status.
Restaurant owner Inchang Mendoza, Vikings Buffet Restaurant marketing consultant Stella Sy, and Manila City Bureau of Permits chief Levi Facundo complained that it caused the loss of money, effort, and time.
