Once again, Aboitiz-led Union Bank of the Philippines bagged major awards from the prestigious 2021 Stevie Awards for Great Employers (SAGE).
UnionBank received a Silver Stevie® as Employer of the Year in Banking for “UnionBank Goes Full Throttle Without Leaving Anyone Behind,” which narrated how the Bank was able to put its employees’ physical, mental, social, and financial wellbeing during these unprecedented times. In return, the employees served its customers, delivered future-ready banking experience, and eventually became the Most Helpful Bank in the Philippines and second in the Asia Pacific.
UnionBank takes pride in its position as a great employer by avoiding lay-offs, awarding merit increases, providing above-market total rewards package, and prioritizing employee health and wellness. During the pandemic, the Bank allowed 80% of its employees to work from home and ensured that branch frontliners are offered carpooling and shuttle services at the height of the pandemic.
The Bank’s Chief Human Resource Officer, Michelle E. Rubio, is also a 2021 Bronze Stevie® recipient. Rubio championed future-proofing the workforce through capability building and upskilling by becoming a ‘PeopleTech Evangelist.’ Her role is instrumental in propelling the Bank’s people-centric agile and digital transformation that led UnionBank to be future- and pandemic-ready.
