On September 7, beauty queen-actress Ruffa Gutierrez shoots up her blood pressure by one of the Reinanays in It’s Showtime‘s Reina ng Tahanan segment.
Gutierrez tweeted about her experience during the noontime show’s segment.

The second contestant named Marilyn had given her two kids to her mother, Nanay Lourdes, to care for without financial support for over a decade.
During the segment, Marilyn talked with her mother about her kids loving their grandmother more than her.
This exchange did not sit well with Ms. Gutierrez.
When asked to give her thoughts about the relationship between Marilyn and her mother, she went on a no-holds-barred lecture–reprimanding the contestant about her decision to put her children under their grandmother’s care without providing financial support.
“Alam mo Marilyn, habang pinapakinggan kita naha-high blood ako. Pati si ate Janice at si ate Amy kasi iniwan mo lang ‘yung mga anak mo sa nanay mo for 10 years na hindi mo sinusustentuhan.
“Alam kong mahadera ka sumagot kila Vice kanina. Pero naha-highblood ako dahil maawa ka naman sa nanay mo. Nakita mo naman ang itsura niya. Wala na siyang trabaho, wala na siyang makain.
“Tama ‘yung sinabi ni Vice, gagawa-gawa ka ng anak tapos iiwan mo lang doon. Hindi maganda ‘yon especially now during the pandemic. Any moment pwedeng magkaroon ng sakit ang nanay mo, at puwedeng mamatay si Nanay Lourdes. Alam natin ‘yan, everyday may namamatay.”
She then advised Marilyn to get her children from her mother and start taking care of them.
“So para sa akin, kunin mo na ‘yung mga anak mo. Kasi lagi mong sinasabi na hindi mahal ng mga anak mo ikaw at mas mahal nila ‘yung lola nila. Natural, kasi hindi ka nila nakikita. I think you should be responsible as a mother. Take your two children.
“At kahit wala kang trabaho alagaan mo sila kasi anak mo sila eh. Hindi naman sila anak ng nanay mo. Okay lang magbigay ka ng anak sa nanay na mayaman. Pero ‘yung nanay mo nakikita mo na hirap na hirap na siya. So please take care of your kids at kunin mo na sila.”
Ruffa then announced that she would be giving aid to Nanay Lourdes, who is currently taking care of her grandchildren.
“Vice magbibigay kami ng ayuda kay Nay Lourdes dahil sobrang na-feel bad kami di ba? Kahit marami din tayong pinagdadaanan sa buhay gusto rin naming makatulong kay Nanay Lourdes.
“Kasi nakikita natin ‘yung pain na hindi na niya kayang alagaan ‘yung dalawang apo niya. Pero dahil mahal niya ‘yung mga apo niya the kids are still with her. So we should help her.”
It’s Showtime segments usually focus on entertaining their audience. Once in a while, the TV program has serious attempts to providing insightful thoughts and moments to its Kapamilya viewers.
Earlier, Gutierrez commended It’s Showtime for the changes it implemented on its noontime program.
