The partnership between Regal Films and GMA Network makes everybody a winner with Kapuso viewers getting all the relaxation and entertainment they can get every week, promised COO and Vice President of Regal Entertainment Roselle Monteverde, September 7.
“What we can promise to the tele-viewers is weekly we will give them pure entertainment. Something that they can relate to, something they can look forward to, fresh stories, mga bagong combination sa casting. Para s’yang weekly telemovie na mapapanuod weekly,” she said in Regal Studio Presents’ virtual press conference
GMA executive Joey Abacan even described the collaboration as giving “free movies” for viewers every week.
“Well para silang nanunuod ng libreng pelikula every week.”
According to Abacan, the partnership started when he and Monteverde talked about bringing classic Regal films into television until they decided to have a telemovie first, Regal Studio Presents.
The said anthology series is the first of the many projects the two companies will be working on.
To assure the quality of each episode, Monteverde said she brought their own creative team into this partnership.
“We have our regular creative team from the movies. So yung same team, ginamit ko to be creating these telemovies,” she revealed.
Furthermore, their treatment regarding the episodes of the show is basically how they make movies.
“Ang treatment kasi namin for these episodes, parang gumagawa kami ng weekly pelikula talaga. Using our current resources from our creative team.
“So marami kaming writers collaborate into coming up [with] relevant and appealing stories for the audience of GMA not only in the Philippines but globally.”
The partnership also grants both production firms exclusive access to their respective roster of talents.
“Definitely. This is one of the reasons why we had this collab, to be able to use the talented roster of artists in GMA. So it’s open to us for movies, for any future projects between GMA and Regal,” Monteverde admitted.
Before becoming the COO and VP of Regal Entertainment, Monteverde and Abacan worked together during the 80s and 90s. This time, with more experience, the two are now more experienced and knowledgeable with their respective area of expertise.
“With this collaboration, we were very meticulous sa mga bawat episode na na-conceptualize. Masaya ako na katrabaho ko ulit si Joey. So looking forward sa maraming projects together,” shared Monteverde.
In terms of plans together, Abacan said there is a lot in store for viewers to tune in, including a franchise of Regal that will be coming to Philippine television via GMA Network.
“Ang dami. As a matter of fact, mayro’n kaming ginagawa ngayon. It’s in the plans already. And we’re very, very excited. Soon, a very big franchise of Regal, we will actually be doing soon for television.”
Meanwhile, for future movies and shows, both bosses said they are already talking about it.
Regarding another upcoming series, Monteverde teased that Kapuso viewers should watch out for a series created by GMA Network and Regal Films.
“Nag-usap na rin kami ni Joey Abacan na we might have a series that we will co-produce with them also. Hintayin ko na lang muna ang GMA mag-announce about it. Quiet lang muna ako ngayon.”
In the meantime, the first offer of this collaboration, Regal Studio Presents, will have its pilot episode led by Ken Chan and Sanya Lopez aired on Saturday, 8:30 p.m. Catch it only on GMA Network.
