Miss Universe Philippines 2020 Rabiya Mateo admitted that she is willing to choose the crown over her love life and live a simple life.
She made the revelation during her guesting on the Kapuso comedy talk show The Boobay and Tekla Show (TBATS) on Sunday, September 19.
In the hot seat segment May Pa-Presscon, Mateo was asked to choose between having the Miss Universe crown or having a love life and a simple life.
The beauty queen promptly answered that she will choose the crown saying, “Siguro doon ako sa Miss Universe crown kasi hindi lang ‘yun yong pangarap ko. Pangarap din ‘yon ng maraming Pilipino, nang sangkabaklaan na sumuporta sa akin.”
Mateo represented the Philippines in the Miss Universe 2020 pageant and finished as one of the Top 21 semifinalists.
She revealed that after she failed to bring home the crown, regrets and ‘what ifs’ filled her head but she eventually accepted the pageant results.
“Alam n’yo po ba after the competition, I need to recover kasi hindi din madali na matalo. May mga moments na nire-relive ko sa utak ko yung mga nangyari, ‘What if ganito yung ginawa ko? What if ganyan? Siguro mas higher yung placements. Siguro nauwi natin yung crown.’
“Pero unti-unti you have to accept na minsan kahit anong gusto mo, hindi ibibigay sayo but it doesn’t mean na tapos na ‘yung buhay mo doon,” she said.
Mateo was previously in a relationship with Neil Salvacion. They were together for about six years, but they broke up in June 2021.
Salvacion subtly confirmed that Mateo has chosen the Miss Universe-Philippines crown over him.
After her stint in pageantry, Rabiya Matteo is trying her luck in the showbiz industry as she signed a contract with the GMA network in May 2021.
