Piolo Pascual broke his word as he returned to doing teleseryes on ABS-CBN.
On Thursday, September 16, Dreamscape Entertainment revealed that Pascual is headlining two programs in ABS-CBN – a teleserye with new Kapamilya star Lovi Poe, and a romantic-comedy series where he reunites with Angelica Panganiban.
Pascual and Poe will be the lead stars of the forthcoming Philippine adaptation of the hit Korean drama, Flower of Evil. Meanwhile, details about his project with Panganiban are not disclosed yet.
He will also star in the upcoming movie, Bangsa, directed by Brillante Mendoza. The other cast of the movie are Laurice Guillen, Baron Geisler, and Dido de la Paz.
The actor previously stated that his series in 2018, Since I Found You, with actress Arci Muñoz is his last project in ABS-CBN.
For a long time, he has done a lot of teleseryes. He previously admitted that it is something that he may not enjoy anymore.
“I’ve done more than a dozen soaps, I’ve been in the business for 20 years. It’s the same thing I’ve been doing the last 10 years. I want to be able to do other things and diversify.
“That’s something that… I don’t enjoy doing anymore. I don’t want to be stuck in a set. It’s hard. I mean, I don’t want to take it away from somebody else, but it’s not something that I wanna pursue now anymore,”
Pascual shared in an interview in June 2021.
But on Monday, August 2, news about Pascual’s comeback project with the Kapamilya network surfaced online after he was spotted in a virtual meeting with various ABS-CBN executives.
On Thursday, September 16, Pascual inked anew with ABS-CBN.
A red carpet welcome was rolled out for him before his contract signing, where he was joined by ABS-CBN president and CEO Carlo Katigbak, COO of broadcast Cory Vidanes, group CFO Rick Tan, Dreamscape Entertainment head Deo Endrinal, and his talent manager Lulu Romero.
Pascual was one of the Kapamilya artists rumored to transfer to other networks after his notable absence on ASAP Natin ‘To. This occurred following his hosting stint for Brightlight Productions’ Sunday Noontime Live, which aired on TV5 last year.
Amid the rumors, the 44-year-old actor reiterated his loyalty as a Kapamilya and assured the public that he will soon be back to the Network.
