Lovi Poe dreams of portraying the role of iconic Panday or the blacksmith, that her late father Fernando Poe Jr. once popularized.
In a virtual media conference, the newly-signed Kapamilya actress spilled her thoughts regarding the desire to do projects she intends to execute with her new home network.
She talked about her hopes of doing a remake of the action-fantasy film Ang Panday.
“I would love to do Panday — as a woman. That’s a dream,” Poe said.
The ABS-CBN executives who attended the press conference seemed to have agreed with Poe’s proposition.
“Abangan natin ‘yan, Panday, Lovi Poe? Why not?” Robi Domingo appeared to also approve of the idea.
“I haven’t done an action series. Happy ako na I have done drama. I have done romantic comedies somehow… ‘Yan ang gusto kong gawin,” Poe confessed it has been her lifelong aspiration to be part of an action series since she has started her career in showbiz.
The late Fernando Poe Jr. was the first one to portray the role of Panday in the ‘80s. Also, the said Filipino action-fantasy film was both produced and directed by him.
From the original Ang Panday movie, the concept has branched out to different other movie versions, animation series, and TV series such as Pagbabalik ng Panday (1981), Ang Panday: Ikatlong Yugto (1982), Ang Panday IV: Ika-Apat Na Aklat (1984), Ang Panday TV series (2016), and Ang Panday, The Movie (2017).
