The much-awaited comedy-drama movie by the award-winning director Joel Lamangan is now streaming on VIVAMAX, which began yesterday, September 17.
Diego Loyzaga and Christian Bables are BEKIS ON THE RUN, reflective of the film’s title.
Other stars like Lou Veloso, Kylie Verzosa, Sean de Guzman joined the funny tandem of Loyzaga and Bables as brothers who were running out of money, running out of time, and running away.
In the story, Andres (Loyzaga) and his gay brother Donald (Bables) tried to rob a construction site, but things got complicated, leaving them no choice but to run. They earned the sympathy of many, especially the gay community, when Nanay Pacing (Lou Veloso), the reason behind their theft act, went viral on social media when he shared about his medical condition and how the brothers wanted to help to raise the money for the operation.
Loyzaga and Bables are joined by Kylie Verzosa, who is Adriana, Andres’s partner, and Sean De Guzman as Martin, Donald’s ex-boyfriend.
Apart from being a comedy-drama film, it will also tackle corruption and least-talked topics such as gay men in the military.
When both lead actors, Loyzaga and Bables were asked if what’s difficult to do–comedy or drama, both share almost the same thoughts that comedy is much more challenging than drama.
Loyzaga said, “From my point of view, nasanay kasi ako sa drama. At saka di ako nakakatawa. Hindi ako marunong magpatawa.
“I guess they’re equally as difficult. Kasi yung character ko naman dito di siya nagpapatawa eh. Sadyang nakakatawa lang ang eksena o yung nagyayari. That’s where you find hurmor in it.”
Bables though he shared the same thoughts as his co-actor, further emphasized why he thought comedy is difficult to tackle.
“Mas mahirap ang comedy. Dahil, well ang process ko as an actor, pain pa rin kasi ang ginagamit para ka maka-produce ng humor. Mas mahirap siya kasi kailangan mong makakita ng humor out of that pain.
“So, I guess for me mas mahirap ang comedy.”
