Comedian Lassy Marquez in the virtual press conference for his upcoming film Sarap Mong Patayin, on September 24, once experienced getting catfished by his friend and Beks Batallion co-member Chad Kinis after he tried to catfish his co-work.
While asleep, he got a phone call from his ‘victim’ where he slipped and exposed his true self.
So naalimpungatan ako.
“Pag-ring, ‘hello? Bakit?’ Then yun nga, nagalit s’ya sa’kin.”
As the saying goes, ‘what comes around, goes around,’ Lassy had a similar experience. But this time around, he was on the other end as Chad catfished him.
So ang nangyari, si Chad, ginanyan n’ya ako before. Yung niligawan ako, pero paniwalang-paniwala ako. May pagka-gullible kasi ako minsan eh. Like masabihan ako na ‘ang ganda mo naman,'” he recalled.
“So naniwala ako kasi alam n’ya eh.
Luckily for Lassy, he has not experienced getting catfished to the point that he has to send money.
“Pero hindi ako umabot sa punto na magpapadala ako through Gcash, o kung ano man na money remittance pa yan, money transfer, wala talaga as in,” he expressed.
Meanwhile, in his newest movie, where he top-bill, Lassy’s popularity rose to the roof as he shared he now receives messages and friend requests on his social media.
Walang nagpapa-add sa’kin, wala talaga as in noon noon.
He then clarified that these Netizens wanted to meet him personally, not asking for anything in return.
So walang presyong nagaganap. Walang presyuhan, walang—yung gano’n. Kasi alam naman nila na may habibi ako eh.”
Meanwhile, starting his career doing gigs in comedy bars, Lassy admitted he would return to doing stand-up comedy once the pandemic ends.
He was also saddened knowing that comedy bars were among the most affected industries in the pandemic, though they were there helping each other out during these trying times.
Joining Lassy in the film are former beauty queen Ariella Arida, Kit Thompson, and Bob Jbeili. Sarap Mong Patayin is directed by Darryl Yap and will premiere on Vivamax, October 15.
