Maris Racal shared that she was previously scared of admitting her relationship with former Rivermaya vocalist Rico Blanco due to their age gap.
In an interview with the morning show Magandang Buhay, which premiered on YouTube on August 12, Racal said that her age gap with Blanco made her scared about what the people might have to say.
Racal is currently 23 years old, while Blanco is 48 years old.
“Lagi po naming pinag-uusapan. Pero every time na ganoon ang topic natatakot ako, napi-pressure ako kasi natatakot ako sa kung ano ang iisipin ng mga tao. Kasi strange kasi ‘yung relationship namin because of the age gap. It’s like the big elephant in the room,” she said.
However, she was shocked to find out that most people accepted her relationship with Blanco.
“Pero I’m really, really surprised sa reaction nila. Hindi ko in-expect na matutuwa pala sila,” she said.
To recall, Racal confirmed her relationship with the vocalist on May 31 and said that she is excited about their future music collaboration.
Aside from music, Racal shared that the aspect that they both have in common is their love for their family.
“Before I would say music kasi doon kami nag-start nag-click talaga, nag-work together. But like now, siguro malaking percentage ‘yung pareho kami ng values sa life, pareho kaming may malaking family and very close together. So gets namin kung paano mag-treat ng family. So ‘yun ang pinaka-importante talaga sa amin.”
Despite being afraid of what the people might say about them, she previously shared that she and Blanco don’t mind their age gap.
She said that their relationship is just like any other relationship that most couples do have.
Racal’s latest single Ate Sandali is produced by Rico Blanco. It is the first single from her upcoming mini-album under Balcony Entertainment.
Blanco currently runs the record label, Balcony Entertainment. He also produced Racal’s 2020 songs Not for Me and Kahit Na Anong Sablay.
