Kapuso actor Royce Cabrera had no reason to regret his decision of doing full-frontal in his first acting job.
During the virtual press conference for the upcoming Kapuso series Nagbabagang Luha on July 22, the young artist got asked if he had regrets that he started his career with a daring role.
He responded by saying, “Wala naman.”
Royce started his acting career in the 2019 movie Fuccbois where he did bare his privates.
The young talent reasoned that he is aware of the sacrifices that he had to make (including doing frontal nudity for the movie Fuccbois) and the amount of dedication he had to give to succeed in the career he chose.
“Kasi nung pinasok ko ‘tong mundo nang showbiz bilang aktor, eh trabaho kong gampanan ang mga karakter na binibigay sa ‘kin.
“Kung ang binigay sa ‘kin na karakter eh gawin ‘tong gan’tong klaseng eksena para ma-justify ang character, so ako, trabaho ko na gawin yung bagan na ‘yon,” he explained.
Cabrera further explained that before accepting a project, he made sure that he is 100% committed to it and its story.
“Before naman tanggapin yung isang project, may mga meeting naman, so do’n palang aware ka na eh. So aware naman ako na may mga gano’ng eksena.
“Buong loob kong gagawin at buong loob ko ring gagawin ang mga dapat at di dapat gawin para mapaganda ang karakter at ang story,” he added.
Meanwhile, one of the show’s directors, Direk Ricky Davao, was asked if he [personally] picked Royce to be part of the cast.
Direk Ricky did not have a ‘say’ on who will be part of the series.
He said, “Well, pagpasok ko kasi, nandoon na ang pangalan n’ya, nagulat ako at na-excite naman ako.”
It’s because the director knew how talented Royce is as an actor since they worked together in Fuccbois.
“Kasi magaling naman talaga s’yang artista. Yung dedication n’ya as an actor, nakita ko naman nung ginagawa namin ang Fuccbois. At nakita ko ‘yun buong-buo.”
The director was also certain that GMA Network did not go wrong in choosing Royce as part of their roster of talents because of his exceptional acting skills, that even his co-actors called him, ‘thinking actor’.
“At hindi nagkamali ang GMA kay Royce. Meron na tayong aabangan na isang good-looking, napakaganda nang katawan, dark na morenong artista, na malalim. Ito sinasabi ng mga co-actors n’ya, a ‘thinking actor’,” Direk Ricky noted.
Royce started his acting career in the 2019 movie Fuccbois. He was also part of ABS-CBN’s drama series, A Soldier’s Heart.
The newbie artist also has done several movies such as U-Turn, Lola Igna, Silly Red Shoes, and Gitarista.
Now as a Kapuso, Royce is part of the upcoming drama series Nagbabagang Luha, an adaptation of the 1988 classic movie that starred Lorna Tolentino, Gabby Concepcion, Richard Gomez, and Alice Dixson.
