Filipino upstart e-commerce app Go Shopping Philippines (GSP) expressed its support for local brands and businesses.
During the soft launch event of GSP, Founder and CEO of Go Shopping Philippines, Neil La-as, discussed how the app could help support local businesses.
“We launched Go Shopping Philippines mobile app with Go National. Go National is a category where we will be highlighting Philippine products and Philippine owners or businesses homegrown to the country.”
La-as then highlighted GSP as a Filipino-owned company.
“This is actually a very momentous event or a milestone in the e-commerce industry in the country. For so long, our country has been governed by international or foreign-owned e-commerce sites. These are the giants of the industry.
“Go Shopping Philippines is anchored on the notion that this is a Filipino-owned company, to be sure of that. It’s the first Filipino-owned corporation offering a huge e-commerce business.”
La-as then shared GSP’s security feature founded by the entrepreneur’s personal experience.
“A lot of anomalies have been happening. And it hurts me to the bone that this system does not seem to care at all. With the proliferation of fake items, the bogus sellers, and you add the bogus buyers.
“We will be doing the kind of business that every Pinoy wants to have. And that is protection. Go Shopping Philippines is built on the foundation that Filipinos go online shopping because they want to be protected. They want value for their money, aside from being safe from the pandemic.”
La-as then listed some of the goals of GSP in shaking up the e-commerce industry.
“This is the time to challenge the whole system of e-commerce. This is the time that we will be building e-commerce that is purely Filipino of its nature because only Filipinos can understand Filipino culture. The buying habit.
“With Go Shopping Philippines, the reason why we exist is to boost our local economy.”
The app aims to be the country’s first mega digital mall offering a digital malling experience with quality and lifestyle through the list of local businesses available on the platform.
The app also caters to digital viewing and cinema experience with GFlix, Go Live, Go Cineplex, and Go TV, hoping to host pay-per-view events in the future.
Aside from the local shops, the app also partnered with other platforms such as Metrodeal and Tourismo, providing easier access to Filipinos visiting the app.
