Neil Arce, Angel Locsin’s husband, received the ‘best piece of advice from his mother before marrying the Kapamilya actress.
The celebrity couple recently tied the knot and shared the news in a vlog that premiered on their YouTube channel on Saturday, August 7.
Before their wedding, Arce received a piece of advice from his mother, Jean, which the latter claimed is the key to a successful marriage.
In husband and wife’s vlog, Jean said that Neil should be ‘under’ his wife to ensure a happy married life.
“Ang advice ko lang, best thing, maging under ka. Sundin mo lahat ng gusto ni Angel para masaya kayo,” she said.
Being ‘under’ or ‘under the saya’ is a Filipino slang that means being subject to the authority of a woman, typically the wife.
The advice made him smile as he said that he would immediately apply it.
“Umpisahan ko ngayon pa lang. ‘Ah, okay, okay,’ he quipped.
Jean then went on and said that her son should be the one to do the household chores to ensure that his wife would be stress-free.
“Ikaw dapat ang mag-asikaso ng bahay. Ikaw dapat ang mag-asikaso kay Angel. ‘Pag nagkaanak kayo, ikaw dapat ang mapuyat, hindi si Angel.
“As a wife, gusto mo maging masaya asawa mo, ipag-shopping mo
“Happy wife, happy life,” prodded Jean.
Neil agreed saying, “Happy wife, happy life.”
Locsin and Arce got engaged in June 2019 and their initial plan was to get married in November 2020. The wedding did not take place because of the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.
The couple recently surprised everyone when they got married in a civil wedding ceremony that was officiated by Taguig City Mayor Lino Cayetano.
They also revealed that they plan to have a church wedding soon.
Angel and Neil have been friends for seven years, but it was only in October 2017 when she first opened up the possibility of a brewing romance.
