ABS-CBN production unit, RCD Narratives announced via twitter on Thursday, August 19, that they will continue Phil and Benjie’s story in PhilJie’s Heart, a side story of A Soldier’s Heart.
Phil and Benjie’s characters were portrayed by Jerome Ponce and Yves Flores in the 2020 war-drama series. The series’s subplot tackled their same-sex relationship inside the military.
Their tandem called as PhilJie created such a buzz on social media.

After their hit pairing in A Soldier’s Heart, Ponce and Flores were supposed to star together in the Boys’ Love series Ben X Jim but it did not push through.
Due to COVID-19 protocols for productions, Flores, who was still doing Bagong Umaga, had no choice but to let go of the role of Ben. He suggested moving the production for Ben X Jim to a later date, but it wasn’t honored.
Ponce was partnered with Teejay Marquez in the series instead and got released in 2020.
Meanwhile, Flores starred in a 2021 BL series Stuck On You as JM opposite Iyo Canlas.
