The certified multi-platinum Filipino band Ben&Ben revealed how their fans Liwanag and Bubblies made their collaboration with DonBelle (Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano) possible, during the media conference for their sophomore album release, on Friday, August 27.
Bassist Agnes Reoma revealed that their fans pushed to have DonBelle included in the music video of their single, Upuan. She said their fans saw the similarities between the song and DonBelle’s teleserye, He’s Into Her.
“Actually, it wasn’t us who decided. I think ang nag-initiate ay ‘yung mga fans namin, ‘yung Liwanag and Bubblies.
“Kasi they’ve been tweeting, posting, kahit ‘yung mga Tiktok videos na dahil nga ‘yung upuan na ni-release namin with music video ang theme niya is school.
“And si Donny and si Belle mayroon silang series na ‘yung He’s Into Her, na classmates. So pinag-connect nila ‘yung two things.”
Paolo Benjamin then recalled the ‘twists and turns’ their group faced to make the music video happen.
“Maraming twists and turns kasi grabe ‘yun. Syempre, sobrang mahal namin ‘yung kantang ‘Upuan.’And so we really wanted to give the best music video for it as well.
“As early as May, we were actually dreaming of making that happen. And then, ‘yun nga probably like a few days in, few weeks in, the idea of working with Don Belle happened. We actually really tried to pull that off.”
Their music video for Upuan featuring Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano premiered on August 29, and currently has 2.1 million views on YouTube.
Apart from their music video, Ben&Ben also released their highly anticipated sophomore album, Pebble House, Vol. 1: Kuwaderno via Sony Music.
