Andrea Brillantes admitted that she thought of quitting showbiz many times over. In her YouTube vlog uploaded on August 1, the young actress responded to hate comments from netizens.
One netizen commented: “Quit showbiz already!”
It prompted her to share her struggles as an actress.
As a breadwinner of the family, she said she can’t let go of her profession just because she wanted to.
She also revealed that she plans to retire from showbiz at an early age before settling down.
Pero I’m sure guguluhin n’yo pa rin ako,” she said.
Aside from this, Brillantes also addressed issues about her attitude. Some said that she is “feeling superior” and an arrogant person. She explained that she is just confident in herself when performing on stage.
As long as wala akong tinatapakan na tao and wala naman akong ginawa, literal sumayaw lang ako.
Brillantes also denied being nitpicky and snob in person as what others say.
“Lagi ko nakukuha (na komento) maarte. Okay na ge-gets ko rin ‘yon kasi kikay naman talaga ako, nagme-make up ako. Nag-aayos ako, nagti-TikTok ako. Kasi parte ‘yan ng trabaho. Kapag ‘di ako nag-post ‘di na ako magiging relevant and I have bills to pay,” Andrea explained.
“Tapos sa maldita, kung nagpakita man ako sa ‘yo ng ganoon, siguro pagod lang talaga ako noon or mayroon akong sariling problema na iniisip, mayroon akong pinagdaaanan noon — I’m so, so sorry. Pero ako talaga I try my best na ipakita talaga ‘yung best version ko lalo na sa fans, ‘yun ang possibly last moment na makikita nila ako at ‘yun ang maaalala nila for the rest of their lives kaya ayaw kong maging bastos ako sa kanila, kasi ‘yun na ang maaalala nila.”
Brillantes had her first television appearance in the children’s comedy show Goin’ Bulilit.
In 2013, she made her first big break by playing the main role in the family drama series Annaliza. She portrayed Annaliza, a girl who faced numerous trials under her foster parents. The show debuted on May 27, 2013, and ended on March 21, 2014.
In 2018, Brillantes played her first role as an antagonist in the hit afternoon series, Kadenang Ginto, in which she played as Marga.
She is currently top-bills ABS-CBN’s primetime series Huwag Kang Mangamba.
