Kapamilya young actress Andrea Brillantes said that she has given up fangirling over popular K-pop group BTS, also known as the Bangtan Boys.
In her vlog uploaded on August 1, the actress admitted that she received backlash on social media before revealing herself as a BTS fan.
“Nagkaroon ako ng obsession sa kanila (BTS), tapos binash ako ng buong ARMY (fans of BTS). Dahil lang nagustuhan ko ang BTS,” she shared.
She was accused as a poser, fake fan, bandwagon, and “kanser.”
Also, she received death threats from some BTS fans. This experience frightened her and it led her to give up on idolizing the boy group.
“Sobrang grabe ng hate, parang natakot na rin ako silang mahalin. Sabi ko, sige na nga, ‘di na lang ako magmamahal ng kahit ano, char!” Andrea recalled.
“Ngayon, wala na akong pake actually. Na-realize ko na lahat ng mamahalin ko, lahat ng magiging fan ako ng something, ihe-hate nila ako, so hamu na lang, wala na akong pake,” she said.
Though, Brillantes shared that she is still supporting the South Korean girl group BlackPink which she first loved before BTS.
It was in 2018 when the young actress faced a lot of criticisms for being a BTS fan. She confronted her haters and denied being a bandwagon or a fake fan for she has been a fan since 2016.
Some BTS fans assumed that Brillantes is taking advantage of the group’s popularity since they also have an upcoming album back then. But Andrea explained that she “genuinely” liked the BTS.
She has long been the subject of bashing in the past. She previously revealed that she was a victim of the cancel culture on social media at an age of 12. Aside from this, the actress was also confronted with issues about her alleged bad attitude.
Brillantes is one of the main stars on ABS-CBN’s inspirational series Huwag Kang Mangamba, which is airing on the Network’s Primetime Bida lineup.
