It’s Showtime host and comedian Vice Ganda slammed the government for prioritizing the standardization of the viand Adobo rather than its administrative system.
During the Reina ng Tahanan segment of It’s Showtime, Reinanay Flor Tumang was asked about the ingredient she wants to add to the Adobo recipe.
Tumang said that she wants to add sugar and pineapple in Adobo to give it an additional sweet and sour flavor.
Vice then noticed that Flor struggled in answering the question so, he blamed the government for promoting the standardization of the Adobo dish.
“Tignan mo naguluhan si Mother. ‘Wag kang mag-alala Mother, buong Pilipinas din naman naguluhan sa konsepto na yan eh.
“Bakit mo i-standardize ang pagluluto ng Adobo eh kanya-kanyang panlasa yan. Etong gobyerno ding to!” Vice quipped.

Kim Chiu then asked him to calm down and said that it is only Adobo.
Vice then replied, “Yun nga, adobo lang ayusin n’yo kaya ang standard ng pamamalakad n’yo kaysa yung Adobo yung inaatupag niyo!”
Kim then laughed in the background.
Adobo is an iconic Filipino dish. It is marinated meat in a sauce mixed with soy sauce, garlic, and others, depending on the cook. Adobo has no fixed set of ingredients as people have their different versions of the dish.
As different versions of Adobo arise, the Department of Trade and Industry recently moved to formulate minimum standards for the Adobo recipe.
Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez saw this as one way to promote the dish internationally market. It is also part of the economic recovery plan of the administration.
“As we now all help to fight the pandemic, we all need to continue to find ways to create more economic activities to create more jobs or recover jobs back.
“This is part of our economic recovery efforts to develop more creative industry exports and own our brand of Philippine cuisines for international promotion.”
