Talks on Cuneta’s first TV series on ABS-CBN have been floated numerous times in the past. It seemed that it would turn into reality only this year.
For decades, the singer-turned-actress-and-TV host has starred in 59 films, hosted over 10 TV shows, recorded over 40 albums, and has done many product endorsements.
It was in 1981, Cuneta starred in her first feature film, Dear Heart opposite one of the heartthrobs in the ’80s, and her former husband, Gabby Concepcion.
The success of the film paved the way for her career as a film actress.
After staying with ABS-CBN, her home network, for 28 years, she moved to TV5 with a rumored Php1 billion contract with the network on November 22, 2011.
On May 14, 2012, she had her very first project with TV5, the daily afternoon talk show Sharon: Kasama Mo, Kapatid Ko. It is regarded as an engaging program that aimed to entertain and inspire.
However, she returned to television in 2013 with a comedy show titled, Madam Chairman, which premiered in October 2013 on TV5. It was her first TV series in 35 years.
In 2014, she had pre-terminated her five-year contract with TV5 and worked as a freelancer.
In March 2015, she signed a contract with ABS-CBN, marking her return to her home network of 23 years.
“It is overwhelmingly wonderful! There’s really no place like home. I don’t belong anywhere else, and now I’m back home, safe and sound.”
It was also this year when the multi-awarded actress announced her plans of doing a teleserye with her home network.
“I see myself doing a teleserye, yes. I see myself doing a teleserye later. I think they’re still being fixed,” she said in a press conference.
She became one of the judges on Your Face Sounds Familiar, on March 14, 2015. She also became one of the coaches for the first season of The Voice Teens as well.
She recently went viral on social media following the launch of her new film trailer on July 4.
The actress warned her fans in advance that her movie, Revirginized, will “shock” them as her role here is unusual.
Revirginized is her first project with her former mother studio, Viva Films, after 18 years. Streaming on Vivamax beginning August 6, also stars Albert Martinez, Marco Gumabao, and returning actress Cristina Gonzales.
