Model and TV host Richard Juan strongly believes that ABS-CBN, with its intention to go global, can make his goals to be recognized around the world a reality.
He revealed in an exclusive interview with LionhearTV that Star Magic intends to go international and despite not being a full-blooded Filipino, he wants to showcase Filipino talents around the world.
“He (Direk Lauren Dyogi) told me and told a lot of artists na we want to go global. We want to showcase Filipino talent to the world,” he said.
Not just for recognition and fame, but Juan also felt valuable to ABS-CBN. Even if there are a lot of talents on the Network, he knew that each artist is given importance.
“I think for me it’s really the fact that Star Magic, Star Hunt, ABS-CBN in general, put value in all of their artists. Yes, we have a lot of talents under ABS-CBN, but at the same time, they were all very unique.
“And they see the uniqueness that I bring to the table, they see the value I bring to the table. And it’s also aligned with the goals that ABS-CBN has with the goals I want to do, which is to go global.”
Sticking it out with ABS-CBN and inking a new contract with them is the perfect decision for him.
“That’s the dream for me since I started in this entertainment career. And ito rin yung dream ng ABS-CBN ngayon. Kaya for me, sticking with ABS-CBN is aligned eh. Like we want the same thing. We are working towards the same goal, it’s perfect eh.”
In the meantime, Richard, who did a lot of hosting in the past, will be focusing on his acting skills after being an official Star Magic artist.
“For me, I guess I want to do more acting now. Kasi ang dami ko nang ginawang hosting before here in the Philippines, in Hongkong, and even in Korea. ‘Yung acting lang ang parang hindi ko na-experience na todong-todo.”
His first acting stint with ABS-CBN was back in 2020 in the series, Love Thy Woman. Unfortunately, because of the pandemic, problems with the budget, and the Network’s shutdown, his character got axed.
Although he spent a short period in the TV series, he is now hungry to do acting even more.
“Kasi ‘yung last show na ginawa ko, Love Thy Woman, and that happened right before the pandemic. I was getting warm with the character pa lang pero they had to kill off the character because of the budget, the pandemic, because of ABS-CBN’s unfortunate situation.
“So sayang. Kasi it was a character that’s very me… If I had the chance, I really wish I can try to do acting and more.”
Regarding what kind of roles he would like to play, he, who is relatively new in the acting scene, wants to be a second lead.
“When it comes to acting naman gusto ko rin talagang mag-try ng isang…of course siyempre I’m still relevantly new sa acting na parang bida role agad. I want to be a second lead.
“I want to play a role na second lead but people are rooting for him. And that kind of character is very maiden. So hopefully there’s a show for me that’s going to work me in that aspect.”
For the time being, Juan is working on honing his craft and his acting skills, until an opportunity for him arises.
“What will I be working towards is definitely honing my craft, be ready when opportunity arises. ABS-CBN, Star Magic, and Star Hunt will give you the opportunities, but if you’re not ready, parang wala lang. So I guess it’s really more of training, practice, and getting ready for opportunities when it comes to you,” he ended.
Juan, along with 39 other new and existing artists, inked new contracts with Star Magic on Saturday, June 19.
