Kapamilya talent Jake Ejercito’s childhood dream was to be a part of ABS-CBN not because they are star builders, but because of how they are in essence of their slogan–In the service of the Filipino.
“For me kasi what stands out, is ‘yung slogan or motto ng ABS-CBN na, ‘to be in the service of the Filipino.’ Kasi sa family namin, with our dad, tinuruan kami to always think of others,” shared Ejercito in an exclusive interview with LionhearTV.
Also, coming from a Jesuit school such as Xavier School, he was taught to care for other people.
With ABS-CBN wanting to be of service to Filipinos, he wanted to apply such learnings to his new Network.
“And I went to a Jesuit school, sa Xavier n’ung high school, na in-instill sa amin ay yung value na ‘be a man for others’.
“So parang nagtugma-tugma lahat eh. And I’m excited in any way I can, and in any capacity, as an artist of ABS-CBN, to be in the service of the Filipino,” he added.
He also dreamt of being a Kapamilya ever since he was a child.
In his contract signing on June 19, he uttered that it was his childhood dream to become a Kapamilya and talent of Star Magic.
This dream of his stemmed from his parents–both actors Joseph ‘Erap’ Estrada and Laarni Enriquez.
Being part of the showbiz industry was not only his goal but also his sister, Jerika. He and his sister wanted to follow in their parents’ footsteps and step into the spotlight.
“Acting has been a childhood dream of mine. Actually, kami ng sister ko ‘yan. Kasi growing up, ‘yung mom ko used to produce shows for TV. Tapos napapanuod pa namin mga pelikula ng daddy namin. So s’yempre like any kid, gusto mong i-follow ang footsteps ng parents.”
Finally, after he officially inked his contract on Saturday, he made his childhood dream a reality. He is also certain that ABS-CBN and Star Magic, the star builders of the country, will make wise decisions for his career.
“Now that I’m part of ABS-CBN and Star Magic—I mean the biggest and brightest stars of this country naman, mostly ay galing Star Magic eh. Lahat ng careers nila, Star Magic ang nag-build.
“So, I put my complete trust and so much respect for ABS-CBN and the Star Magic family. Kasi pillars na sila sa industriya ng showbusiness. Hindi matatawaran ‘yung reputation ng ABS-CBN and Star Magic. Kaya I’m deeply honored and grateful to be part of this family,” he said.
Ejercito revealed his switch to ABS-CBN through his handler, Cris Tapang in 2020. But due to the pandemic, it was delayed and the actor had to wait for almost a year.
Currently, he already has an upcoming project as a Kapamilya, the series, Marry Me, Marry You. It will also feature two former Kapuso actresses–Janine Gutierrez and Sunshine Dizon.
