Kapamilya actress Mylene Dizon is still mad about the shutdown of ABS-CBN after more than a year has passed.
To recall, the Kapamilya network was forced to shut down in July 2020 after Congress denied the network’s franchise application.
But before Congress voted to deny ABS-CBN’s franchise application, artists from different networks rallied to fight for the franchise of the Kapamilya network.
In her virtual mediacon for her iWantTFC Original Series My Sunset Girl, Dizon said that even if she was not with ABS-CBN at the time, she still stood by the network as she also participated in the rallies.
“During that time, I wasn’t with ABS-CBN. I was with another network finishing a project with them. I was with them. I joined the rally. I stood outside the station. I sang with them.
“Itinaas ko yung kamao ko for ABS-CBN. Sumugod kami from Cavite talagang pumunta kami. I’ve been with ABS-CBN for 25 years so ang tagal-tagal ko na du’n.
“Yung mga nakakatrabaho ko ngayon from cameraman, gaffer, yung staff, yung crew, basta lahat yan matagal ko na silang kaibigan. Kailangan magtutulungan na lang tayo para kahit paano naman lahat tayo happy somehow,” she said.
The 44-year-old actress was with the GMA Network when the Kapamilya network was struggling with its franchise.
She then said that the anger she felt a year ago after ABS-CBN was shut down was still the same level of rage that she currently feels.
She said that not having ABS-CBN on free television is a big loss for the people as they will have less access to news TV.
“But I’m still very, very pissed about what happened a year ago. Siguro yung galit ko noon hanggang ngayon pareho pa rin yung level.
“Siyempre hanggang ngayon malaking kawalan pa rin kasi a big chunk of our company is still not operating di ba?
“We are still not able to relay lahat ng news na dapat ihahayag natin. I’m still naiinis about it. I’m still going to fight with ABS-CBN para maibalik yun,” Dizon said.
Mylene Dizon is set to be a part of iWantTFC’s upcoming digital series My Sunset Girl, which will stream starting July 14. The series will star award-winning actress Charlie Dizon and Jameson Blake.
Directed by Andoy Ranay, My Sunset Girl is about Ciara ( Charlie Dizon) and Lucas (Jameson Blake), who meet each other online and fall in love.
