Johnny Manahan, popularly called ‘Mr. M’, announced his good news to homegrown Kapuso talents especially the newbies.
The known Starbuilder and film director is now a certified Kapuso after he signed with GMA Artist Center.
Manahan aims to produce a new breed of Kapuso talents. Particularly, he will focus on honing young and homegrown Kapuso stars.
He will also make sure that he will not offend anyone from the network.
“Maganda kasi iyan, e. Uunahin muna yung homegrown talents rather than yung tumatalon ng bakod, yung umaakyat ng bakod.
“So, that’s one of the main goals for Artist Center, is to prioritize homegrown talents,” Manahan said.
Right now, Manahan is still testing waters in his new network and figuring out what kind of improvement is needed.
“Sa ngayon nakikiramdam pa ko doon sa set up nila. Yung dati kami ang nagtayo ng set up so madaling i-absorb.
“We just have to see if we can improve. We can make a flow of decision making easier and faster. Let’s see after few months. I can probably give you more specifics.”
Manahan said that he considers his move as a new journey.
He is also hoping that his stay in GMA Network will be an enjoyable one.
“I guess every milestone is important. I’m trying to ride the wave, so to speak, di mo alam kung saan mapunta yun, yung wave. But while you’re riding it, you are having a good time. That’s what I want to do at this point of my life. I think I can enjoy many things in the network.
“I hope this will not only be very fruitful for GMA but I hope it’s going to be a joyful ride” he stated.
Manahan has spent 50 years directing films and managing actors. He was the former manager for ABS-CBN’s Star Magic (formerly the Talent Center), as well as the senior vice-president of ABS-CBN.
