Popular Facebook content creator and game streamer Elyson Caranza, popularly known as “Wrecker” turned professional by signing with one of the biggest esports organizations, Resurgence (RSG).
In the virtual launch of RSG Philippines today, July 15, Jayf Soh, CEO and Founder of the Singaporean-based esports organization, welcomed Wrecker to their RSG family.
When asked why he signed with RSG, Wrecker said, “Actually very open ako sa idea. Because this is one of my dreams eh. So when they talked to me, as in pagkasabi na pagkasabi nila, I said yes agad.”
RSG Philippines has a vision of empowering and nurturing aspiring players such as Wrecker to become gaming celebrities.
Though the popular streamer has his fair share of professional tournaments being one of the champions of Rules of Survival back in the day. Still, being part of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang’s tournament as one of RSG’s players is truly an opportunity for him.
“I remember Rules of Survival as a professional player. And it was a long time ago. Basically, I am very thankful to RSG for having me as one of their talents. I cannot wait to see myself and play Mobile Legends professionally,” said Wrecker.
Wrecker could not believe that he would be part of an esports such as RSG nor become a professional player of Mobile Legends.
“I never imagined myself to be part of RSG. But determining their mission and visions, and their plans in the years to come, I can say that I am very grateful to be part of this RSG family,” he added.
Now turning pro as Wrecker, along with RSG Philippines about to enter Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Season 8, its country manager, Richard Jacinto, was inspired to get the streamer-now-pro after a professional player doubted the capabilities of Wrecker.
“For Wrecker, actually matagal na naming pinag-uusapan si Wrecker. The idea came from when I was watching Harlem Globetrotters. So parang ang idea lang is what if we bring Harlem Globetrotters sa NBA.
“So nagkataon lang na may isang pro player na nagsabing ‘paano niyo dadalhin sa MPL ‘yan eh content creator lang yan?’ So it connected lang. And sakto na nakausap namin si Wrecker. And he shared the same vision with us.”
Other than Wrecker, there were also two newly turned professional players that RSG got. They also have veterans such as Kenneth Jiane “Kenji” Villa and EJ “Heath” Esperanza to help guide these newbies.
The content creator who admitted being one of the older guys in the team said, “Isa kasi ako sa mga nakakatanda dito eh. So its either na magiging isa ako sa mga pro players na magpa-practice or ako yung tito na magmo-mold ng characters nila. Because that is what I do simula palang bago ako masali dito sa esports.”
RSG currently holds two Mobile Legends teams in Singapore and Malaysia, the Philippines being its third team. Their Malaysian team recently won the MPL MY Season 7. On the other hand, their Singaporean team settled for second place in the MPL SG Season 1.
