Artist Melizza shared her real-life story behind her empowering anthem, Killer Boy.
In an interview, Melizza described the song as “an anthem for everyone who got their hearts played.”
Melizza also said that the song came from her real-life experience.
“Yes, I’m super transparent about it. I wrote the song because somebody played with my heart.”
She also recalled hearing similar stories from her friends and family, which led to her creating the empowering anthem.
“I feel like kasi, noong na-experience ko yun narealize ko rin na marami rin akong naririnig na stories sa mga friends ko, family members ko. That they experienced the same thing in getting their hearts played.
“So I wanted to make an anthem nga po to empower those people instead of making a song that would be sad about the experience. I’d rather make a song na lang that empowers everyone who got their hearts played. Na hindi na ma-uulit, na alam na nila yung gagawin nila, at alam nila yung mga player boys. Malalaman talaga nila yun.”
Melizza added her plans of releasing more singles this 2021.
“I’m making a few songs, and I’m gonna release a few songs this year. So, I hope subaybayan n’yo yan.”
As for her music, she wants to provide a means of escape for her listeners.
“Gusto ko lang yung music ko ma-transport sila sa isang life that they want to have. Parang movie in their own head and they could escape and yung mga problema nila mawala in those three minutes that they listen to me.”
Melizza currently has two songs out, Always and Killer Boy. Both are available on Spotify, YouTube Music, Apple Music, and all digital streaming platforms.
Aside from her music, she also acts and goes by the name Melizza Jimenez. She was in Kapamilya productions such, Barcelona: A Love Untold, The Killer Bride, and most recently, He’s Into Her.
