“Happy ako na parang ang dami kong naa-unlock dito sa GMA,” said Kapuso star Shaira Diaz after she signed her renewed contract with GMA Network on Wednesday, July 7.
She is glad to be part of the Kapuso roster of talents. To date, she has a lot of opportunities to improve her craft.
“Dahil nga d’on sa mga shows na binibigay nila sa ‘kin, na pinagkakatiwala nila sa ‘kin. Natutuwa ako kasi naiikot ko sila. So nagdaan na ako sa mga romcom, sa kilig-kilig, tapos ngayon nandito ako sa action,” the thankful Diaz shared.
In 2018, she became an official Kapuso talent. But in almost four years in GMA Network, she already has done a variety of shows, honing her acting skills.
“Nakakatuwa kasi nahahasa akong mabuti. Para hindi ako naiiwan sa iisang image lang, sa iisang role. So nakakatuwa kasi parang mas nakikilala ko pa ang sarili ko. Dahil na rin sa mga shows ng GMA.”
Diaz recalled how the 2019 series, Love You Two, pushed her to do a role that is “challenging” for her. She is thankful that GMA network continues to give her opportunities to surpass her limits.
“Katulad nung sa Love You Two. Hindi ko akalain na kaya ko palang main-love sa older guy, na maipares sa older guy.
“So para sa ‘kin big opportunity ang binibigay nila. Kaya sobrang nagpapasalamat ako sa GMA kasi inaalagaan nila ako nang mabuti.”
Currently, Diaz is busy with her upcoming action-packed series, Lolong, opposite Ruru Madrid. After many delays and adjustments, the show finally is pushing through.
“Sobrang masaya ako kasi ang tagal kong hinintay ‘to. Ang daming naging adjustment, ang daming beses na na-move ‘to, na to the point na akala ko hindi na tuloy.”
There will always be pressure now that the series will start its production. But for Diaz, it is a “good pressure.”
“Kasi first time na action series, malaking production, tapos hindi rin biro ang cast namin. Na-excite ako kasi I’m sure maraming matutuwa na mga Kapuso natin.
“Kasi kagaya ko sobrang happy ko na mapabilang dito. Kasi nga ‘yung cast, stellar cast, ay naku! Sobrang nakaka-excite talaga,” she said.
In the series, the Diaz-Madrid chemistry will be put to the test after their stint in I Can See You: On My Way To You.
Other than teleseryes, she also had movie roles under her name. In 2019, she landed her first lead role in the movie, Because I Love You with Kapuso hunk star David Licauco.
She also became a co-host of Wowowin in 2018.
For now, Diaz and her co-stars are in quarantine in preparation for their taping of Lolong.
