Acclaimed singer-songwriter KIKX Salazar deals with his passionate feelings for someone in “Your Name,” a new song under Old School Records featuring newcomer, Filipino-Jordanian rapper ACE$.
A tribute to KIKX’s biggest musical influence Michael Jackson, “Your Name” bears a prominent synthwave sound popular in the ‘80s. Its lyrics about deep obsession and intense love is also a nod to the themes of the King of Pop’s songs.
KIKX said he first worked on the song in early 2019, but its final version was co-written by Nameless Kids’ frontman Nhiko Sabiniano. Its featured artist, ACE$, also contributed to writing additional rap lyrics.
Meanwhile, in line with Old School Records’ vision of evoking the old eras of music, KIKX decided to simultaneously drop a remix version of the track—a practice common in the ‘90s when releasing special singles.
Aside from ACE$, KIKX is joined by another fresh face in the music scene, Kevin Redder, in “Your Name (Remix).” The version, arranged by Nhiko, has additional lyrics on top of a slower tempo.
