Up-and-coming Kapamilya singer Shanaia Gomez expressed her interest to become an actress and considered three of ABS-CBN’s biggest stars Anne Curtis, Liza Soberano, and Kathryn Bernardo as her idols.
“Yes! I’m very very interested in acting,” she expressed in an exclusive interview with LionhearTV on June 28.
Even so, the young artist thought of acting as a great platform for her to grow not only as an artist but also as a person. Through the help of Star Magic and RISE Artists Studio, she is certain that she will grow more.
“It’s a really great platform for me to grow as an artist. And not only as an artist pero as a person din. Star Magic and RISE have provided a lot of workshops to help us grow.
“Kaya sobrang grateful ako dun.”
That is why when it comes to acting, Shanaia is looking up to three of the best actresses in the Kapamilya network.
“I’m very vocal about my idols when it comes to acting. I really love Anne Curtis, Liza Soberano, and Kathryn Bernardo.”
Shanaia started by explaining why she idolizes Bernardo. The newbie talent got inspired by the journey of the Teen Queen to stardom.
“S’yempre I love Kathryn and her journey to acting, how she became an inspiring actress.”
Regarding Curtis-Smith, Shanaia loves how the “Dyosa” of Philippine showbiz for being genuine.
“For Anne Curtis, I really appreciate how she is unapologetically herself. She is just very funny, she does not listen to what anyone has to say. She is just very happy to be herself.”
And for Soberano, she explained that it is because the actress grew to become one of ABS-CBN’s greatest talents, improving in every way possible, even her Tagalog.
“And s’yempre with Liza Soberano naman, I look up to her acting din and her growth as an artist. Especially her growth sa Tagalog. Kasi ‘yun din ‘yung isa sa mga need ko rin i-improve,” said Shanaia.
Moreover, the young singer, if ever she’d be given the chance to pursue acting, she’d like to do romance, comedy, and even drama.
“I really want to become a very versatile actress. So gusto ko mag-try ng mga roles na pakilig, comedy, or drama. I want to push myself to the limit and see kung anong kaya ko talaga.”
For now, Gomez is trying to bring back her passion for songwriting. She wrote her first original song around eight years old. However, for some reason, she stopped.
That’s what she is aiming to do right now as a Kapamilya talent.
“Actually I’m trying to write a little something. Kasi the first song that I ever wrote, siguro 8 or 9 lang ako. Tapos nag-stop ako. Di ko alam bakit. At sayang naman. Ngayon I’m trying to bring it back, the inspiration that I had nung bata palang ako.”
This is just a secret, that even her management, Rise Artists Studio, does not know. But Shanaia intends to present it to them once it is perfect.
“Actually, hindi pa alam ng RISE na I’m trying to write pa eh. Pero I’m very excited to perfect it first and make sure na when I present it to them, it’s the best that I could do for them.”
Gomez is among the talents of RISE Artists Studio’s Gigi De Lana, Zach Castaneda, Karina Bautista, Aljon Mendoza, Jayda, and Hello Stranger breakout star JC Alcantara. They inked new ABS-CBN contracts on a Saturday, June 19, during Star Magic’s Black Pen Day.
