Kapamilya stars and movies once again proved their world-class performance and quality as they stood out internationally.
Filipino-British actor and singer Bailey May proudly represented the Philippines in the music video of Wave Your Flag. The new single is performed by the international teen pop music group Now United. It consists of members from different countries, including Bailey.
The Kapamilya network pulled off another win after He’s into Her music video of P-pop group BGYO was featured in a Nickelodeon Asia. It earned a spotlight on the Kid’s Entertainment Channel.
He’s into Her is the hit weekly drama series’s soundtrack with the same title that stars Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano.
He’s Into Her, directed by Chad Vidanes and produced by Star Cinema, is based on the books by Maxine Lat.
Apart from standing out in the music genre, ABS-CBN also boasts of its two movies in different international film festivals.
Tenement 66, a crime thriller from acclaimed director Rae Red, represented the Philippines in South Korea’s 25th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFAN), under the Bucheon Choice category. The event was held from July 8 until July 18.
It is set to stream worldwide on iWantTFC, KTX.ph, and TFC IPTV beginning this July 23. It will also be available in the Philippines via SKY Pay-Per-View and Cignal Cable Pay-Per-View.
Co-produced by Dreamscape Entertainment, an ABS-CBN entertainment unit, and Epicmedia, the movie tells the suspense story of three teenage robbers who were held hostage after breaking into an older man’s apartment.
The crime-thriller movie is headed by young ABS-CBN stars Francis Magundayao, Francine Diaz, and Noel Comia Jr.
Francine and Francis said that their film’s accomplishment felt surreal to them.
“Kinukurot ko pa yung sarili ko kasi baka nananaginip ako kasi never ko pong in-expect na mapapasama kami sa isang Film Festival tapos Korea pa po” Francine said in an interview.
“Hearing na lalabas internationally still sounds very very unreal to me. Kasi when we were doing this we were only solid focus on the film” Francis shared.
The much-awaited movie of Daniel Padilla, Charo Santos, and Rans Rifol, Whether the Weather is Fine (Kun Maupay Man It Panahon), will have its world premiere in Switzerland. It will be one of the 59th International Film Festival Locarno films within the Concorso Cineasti del Presente or Filmmakers of the Present section, which will fete “innovative” work.
The film festival will take place in the picturesque lakeside Swiss town beginning from August 2 until August 12.
Set against the backdrop of Typhoon Yolanda, the story follows a young man searching for his missing loved ones as another storm approaches.
Carlo Francisco Manatad directs the film. It is a joint production of iWant, Quantum Films, ABS-CBN Black Sheep, Dreamscape Entertainment, Globe Studios, together with Cinematografica, Plan C, House on Fire (France), AAND (Singapore), and KawanKawan (Indonesia).
