Kapamilya artist JC Alcantara admitted declining BL Roles but eventually accepting them because of struggle.
During an exclusive interview, Alcantara recalled how he auditioned for his role in Hello Stranger, not knowing his love team.
He then admitted he felt surprised when he found out his love team was Tony Labrusca.
“So siguro nakita nila ako na as Miko na kaya kong gawin ‘yun.
He then recalled declining the role at first but eventually accepting the project with Hello Stranger.
“That time kasi, na-okay ‘yung ABS-CBN, mabibigyan nila ako ng projects. So nanghihinayang din ako. Itong Hello Stranger.”
He added that he accepted the role since he’s an ally of the LGBTQIA+ community.
I am an ally, so nagsu-support ako. I have relatives, family na gay, and my Tita is lesbian. So, para sa kanila na rin.”
Alcantara began his career as a commercial model. He then starred in Black Sheep’s Hello Stranger The Series alongside Tony Labrusca, launching his career as an actor. Due to its success, the series paved the way for Hello Stranger Movie. He also released his single, Please Na Miss Kita.
In June, Alcantara signed as an official Star Magic artist during the Star Magic Black Pen Event.
