Singer-songwriter Janine Teñoso admitted that she feels pressure in following up the success of her cover, Di Na Muli.
In the media conference for her EP (Extended Play), Kwento Sa Silid, Teñoso shared how she wants to follow up the success of the cover single with an original song.
“I think unconsciously, meron. Kasi po syempre ‘Di Na Muli’ is a cover. And it’s part of my intention to make an original song na would be as close to the success of Di Na Muli.”
Teñoso acknowledged the difference between Di Na Muli and her original songs.
“But then again, it’s an entirely different song. It’s also a theme song of a movie. So iba rin po talaga ‘yung process noong success noon. I think it’s also a whole different process sa mga original song ko naman po. I’m just excited to see how it’s going to turn out.”
As for Kwento Sa Silid, Teñoso described the songs in the EP as journal entries.
“Lahat po ng songs from the EP were made from my room. Kaya s’ya Kwento sa Silid kasi these are the stories, journal entries po s’ya actually na turned into songs. Those are all made in my room.”
She added that she wanted to compile the singles she released earlier within the EP.
“I guess lahat noong mga releases ko this year. They were all done at the same time, which is during the pandemic. So, I felt like I had to put into one album or one EP together.
“Yes, compilation kasi pareparehas ‘yung nararamdaman ko during that moment, and it felt right.”
Di Na Muli was a song originally performed by Itchyworms in 2016. Teñoso then released a cover of the song in 2018.
Teñoso’s Kwento Sa Silid is under Viva Records and was released on July 8. The EP includes her singles Pelikula with Arthur Nery, Ghost In The Room, Paano, Umibig Muli, and Art Of Letting Go.
