Ever since Julia Montes and Kathryn Bernardo starred in the ABS-CBN’s hit TV drama Mara Clara remake in 2010, the lives of the two have been constantly pitted and compared over with one another.
But the former admitted that she never felt any jealousy over the latter’s success. She stated that she is very proud of Kathryn’s milestones in her career and life as a Kapamilya artist and a young entrepreneur.
“Actually, ang dating sa akin, it’s meant for me to be with Kath nu’ng panahon na ‘yun kasi nag-work kami together dahil hindi kami nagkakitaan ng, ‘Dapat ako ‘yan, eh,’ or, ‘Dapat mas ako sa kanya.’ And that’s our magic. Eh, lagi nga namin sinasabi, kami ang first and perfect love team,” Montes described how her relationship back in the Mara Clara days with Bernardo as a perfect one.
“With Kath, sobrang proud ako with her showbiz life, her business life, alam mo ‘yun? Lahat, okay, sobrang ganda nu’ng ano niya. ‘Yun lang. ‘Yun lang ‘yung lagi kong sinasabi. Hindi ko rin kasi talaga na-imagine. Parang dumating lang na para kang nakakita ng sister and you’re so proud of your sister na whatever happens, you’re just there for her. And ‘yun ako sa kanya until now… na parang ups and downs, hindi lang ako laging present pero andito ako lagi,” she added.
Montes admitted that she will always support and proud of Bernardo’s achievements amidst not always being in the picture. She sees herself as a loving sister that is always there for Bernardo.
In an interview, Bernardo celebrated her intimate sisterhood with Julia; and she is very lucky to have and work with Montes.
“Ang swerte ko nu’n kasi kasama ko si Julia. Malapit ko siyang kaibigan. Alam mo ‘yung feeling na wala ka pang love team nu’n, wala pang DJ [Daniel Padilla] pero meron kang kasama na mag-adjust sa ganung mundo. Swerte ako nun na kasama ko si Julia,” Bernardo shared.
After Mara Clara, the career of Bernardo grew as she became part of different primetime series such as Got to Believe, Pangako Sa ‘yo, and La Luna Sangre and the record-smashing films The Hows of Us (2018) and Hello, Love, Goodbye (2019).
While Montes has been linked with Coco Martin for quite a while now, but neither of the two has confirmed or denied their rumored relationship.
