The tremendous increase in the number of leading men in showbiz at the time of David Licauco’s peak may mean fewer projects for the Kapuso hunk in the future.
In an interview, Licauco expressed his thoughts of not having pressure or feeling any potential threat toward other leading men in showbiz.
“Syempre, kailangan ko talagang mas gumaling, mas good looking, or mas magaling umarte. Sa showbiz, kailangan magaling kang umarte, magaling ang social skills. I am trying my best to work on those things. Pero ‘di ko kasi nakikita ang competition,” he confidently said.
Licauco admitted that he has to deliver impressive work in every field and aspect of showbiz.
“For example, si Derrick [Monasterio], a few weeks ago, nagkikita kami. Kinakausap ko lang siya kung ano ‘yung pwede niyang gawin sa showbiz para ma-improve niya ang sarili niya. Alam mo ‘yun, I want everybody to win. I want everybody to be successful.
“Hindi ko iniisip ‘yung competition, but at the same time, I want to get the good projects. If not, best, ‘yung magagandang projects talaga,” Licauco added.
In 2016, Licauco inked a contract with GMA Artist Center. A year after, he got the title of Kapuso Network’s Chinito Heartthrob.
The recent brewing of the romantic comedy series Heartful Café this year–paved the way for him to land on his first leading role with Asia’s Pop Diva Julie Anne San Jose.
