Girls Planet 999, an original Korean reality show produced by CJ ENM and presented by iQiyi will have its global premiere on August 6 at 7:20pm on iQiyi international service (outside of Mainland China, Japan and South Korea). The competition’s exciting lineup of masters and host include Sunmi from Wonder Girls and Tiffany from Girls’ Generation as K-pop masters, and actor Yeo Jin-goo (Hotel Del Luna) as host. This groundbreaking team will select and train a new global girl group, with aspiring contestants from China, Korea, and Japan.
K-pop fans are in for a delightful time with the official K-pop Masters’ lineup for Girls Planet 999. Sunmi is not only a former member of Wonder Girls that led K-pop by storm worldwide, but also a distinctive musician in her solo career. Many fans imitate her sexy music and performance styles. Tiffany forms part of the Girls’ Generation with millions of devoted fans, and inspired many newcomers with her solo career built in America. With professional knowledge and extensive experiences, they will educate and enlighten contestants. To these aspiring girls, “three months may sound like a long journey, but I would like to remind them to own every step along the way,” says Tiffany, who hopes contestants can cherish and take advantage of every opportunity.
Girls Planet 999’s theme song O.O.O. (Over & Over & Over) has also been released and the choreography is designed by Dance Masters Back Kooyoung and Jang Juhee. “For this song, we are inspired by Planet prototype,” they say. “The choreography can demonstrate curves and toughness in these girls, as well as their aspirations.” After watching the choreography, even K-POP Master Sunmi confesses “it’s difficult, but I expect to see energy in these girls”.
Girls Planet 999 has received over 10,000 submissions from China, Korea, and Japan, and chosen 100 outstanding and promising girls. In response to fans around the globe, iQiyi has secured global streaming rights outside of Mainland China, Japan and South Korea.
Starting from August 6th, viewers can watch Girls Planet 999 every Friday at 7:20pm on iQiyi International app and IQ.com. With English subtitles available, fans can cheer for their favorite contestants all at the same time.
