I Told Sunset About You Star Billkin Putthipong shared how the Thai BL Series became a global hit.
In an interview, Putthipong said that all Thai BL storylines portray both love and Thai culture.
“I think the core of it is full of feelings. It’s full of emotions. And I think this kind of thing is serious. I /think that there is no language for love. It’s feelings. And, even perceiving with our culture, through Thai ways, the audience can perceive that and feels that.”
He adds that Thai BLs are full of stories, art, and emotions that make up or bridge the differences between international audiences.
“Sometimes, we don’t even talk about the series. With the way of acting, the way of storytelling. It’s full of story, with art, with emotions. So. I think this is the /special thing that makes up the difference. And can get to the part of the international audience easier than just portraying through speech with Thai Culture.”
Thai BLs inspired the boom of the Pinoy BL series in 2020, which gave fans series such as Gameboys The Series, Gaya Sa Pelikula, and Hello Stranger.
Billkin Putthipong and co-actor PP Krit star in the Thai series I Told Sunset About You. It is a Thai romantic drama coming-of-age series by Nadao Bangkok. It is available for streaming every Friday with its Filipino Dubbed version on POP TV.
